How the Internet Got Started

In ancient Israel , it came to pass that a trader by the name of Abraham Com did take unto himself a young wife by the name of Dot. And Dot Com was a comely woman, broad of shoulder and long of leg. Indeed, she was often called Amazon Dot Com.
And she said unto Abraham, her husband, “Why dost thou travel so far from town to town with thy goods when thou canst trade without ever leaving thy tent?
And Abraham did look at her as though she were several saddle bags short of a camel load, but simply said, “How, dear?”
And Dot replied, “I will place drums in all the towns and drums in between to send messages saying what you have for sale, and they will reply telling you who hath the best price. And the sale can be made on the drums and delivery made by Uriah’s Pony Stable (UPS).”
Abraham thought long and decided he would let Dot have her way with the drums. And the drums rang out and were an immediate success. Abraham sold all the goods he had at the top price, without ever having to move from his tent. To prevent neighboring countries from overhearing what the drums were saying, Dot devised a system that only she and the drummers knew. It was known as Must Send Drum Over Sound (MSDOS), and she also developed a language to transmit ideas and pictures – Hebrew To The People (HTTP).
And the young men did take to Dot Com’s trading as doth the greedy horsefly take to camel dung. They were called Nomadic Ecclesiastical Rich Dominican Sybarites, or NERDS.
And lo, the land was so feverish with joy at the new riches and the deafening sound of drums that no one noticed that the real riches were going to that enterprising drum dealer, Brother William of Gates, who bought off every drum maker in the land. And indeed did insist on drums to be made that would work only with Brother Gates’ drumheads and drumsticks.
And Dot did say, “Oh, Abraham, what we have started is being taken over by others.” And Abraham looked out over the Bay of Ezekiel , or eBay as it came to be known. He said, “We need a name that reflects what we are.”
And Dot replied, “Young Ambitious Hebrew Owner Operators.” “YAHOO,” said Abraham. And because it was Dot’s idea, they named it YAHOO Dot Com.
Abraham’s cousin, Joshua, being the young Gregarious Energetic Educated Kid (GEEK) that he was, soon started using Dot’s drums to locate things around the countryside. It soon became known as God’s Own Official Guide to Locating Everything (GOOGLE).

That is how it all began. And that’s the truth.

Fixing the Canadian Economy – an open letter (copy, paste, sign, & send)

Dear Prime Minister,

Please find below a suggestion for fixing the CANADIAN economy.

Instead of giving billions of dollars to banks that will squander the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan.

You can call it the Patriotic Retirement Plan:

There are about Ten million people over 50 in the work force.

Pay them $ 2 million each severance for early retirement with the following stipulations:

1) They MUST retire.
Ten million job openings – unemployment fixed

2) They MUST buy a new Canadian? car
Ten million cars ordered – Car Industry fixed

3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage -
Housing Crisis fixed

4) They MUST send their kids to school/college/university -
Crime rate fixed

5) They MUST buy $100 WORTH of alcohol (a couple of jugs of good wine ) /tobacco a week …..
And there’s your money back in duty/tax etc

It can’t get any easier than that!

Also:
Let’s put the pensioners in jail and the criminals in a nursing home.

This way the pensioners would have access to showers, hobbies and walks.

They’d receive unlimited free prescriptions, dental and medical treatment, wheel chairs etc and they’d receive money instead of paying it out.

They would have constant video monitoring, so they could be helped instantly, if they fell, or needed assistance.

Bedding would be washed twice a week, and all clothing would be ironed and returned to them.

A guard would check on them every 20 minutes and bring their meals and snacks to their cell..

They would have family visits in a suite built for that purpose.

They would have access to a library, weight room, spiritual counselling, pool and education.

Simple clothing, shoes, slippers, PJ’s and legal aid would be free, on request.

Private, secure rooms for all, with an exercise outdoor yard, with gardens.

Each senior could have a PC a TV radio and daily phone calls.

There would be a board of directors to hear complaints, and the guards would have a code of conduct that would be strictly adhered to.

The criminals would get cold food, be left all alone and unsupervised. Lights off at 8pm, and showers once a week.  Live in a tiny room and pay $400.00 per week and have no hope of ever getting out.

Think about this (more points of contention):

COWS:
Is it just me, or does anyone else find it amazing that during the mad cow epidemic our government could track a single cow, born in Goondiwindi almost three years ago, right to the paddock where she slept in the feedlot at Bony Mountain?

And, they even tracked her calves to their stalls. But they are unable to locate 125,000 illegal immigrants wandering around our country. Maybe we should give each of them a cow.

Also:
Think about this ….. If you don’t want to forward this for fear of offending someone — YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM! It is time for us grumpy old folk of CANADA to speak up!

I received this letter from someone else and although it is tounge and cheek in nature there are some good points/solutions raised. Thought it should be shared. -Steve

A new video up, …but I’m just thinkin’ out loud again.

So, …I spent the day yesterday with my son. We almost share birthdays and he had to work his so I tagged along. Eight hundred and friggin’ fifty klicks and dozen plus hours later! Wow, his company better appreciate him. Anyway, now I get to worry a bit more about his trips out of town (bit less in other areas) and it has left me with one question.

Why the heck does the Zellers store in 100 mile house have a better selection of toys than all of the flipping stores in Kamloops combined?

About the video, had a tension headache all last night, lawl. Today I’m wiped, didn’t feel like editing too much today and this ramble clip was the right length.

Besides, I’m suppose to be getting ready for the last meeting of the year for community development group I’m with, haven’t gone through the minutes or agenda yet. (Been spending most of the day debating going – sometimes bubble expanding really sucks.)

Updating

Yes I know I have been behind things a tad. The hazards of a one man show.

Injected a bunch of air in to the ol’ bubble the other day through the posting of a “testing the waters again after just hiding away for two years” video to my YouTube channel. Two days later, several dozen thumbs up, and over fifty “Welcome back(s)” and “missed you(s)” what can I say, …Thank You! Wholly Crap! Thanks, eh.

Anyway, I am trying to get a video up for yesterday. But it will more than likely be tonight or tomorrow morn. Trying to cut back on the edit time by wasting time doing retakes, …eyeah. Yesterday some sap out on the Trans-Canada overpass East of Kamloops dropped a rock into my son’s windshield as he was driving underneath.

He’s okay other than shaken up. I think I will start a reward fund for the catching of the  idiots. Either way, didn’t feel too much like playing yesterday.

Today…,

I need to send off my resume for a job and I need to ask you guys if I can use you for a character reference. It’s a professional one so make it a good one! That way I can get a decent camera, business going in the city here, and the Miniatures/Game-Terrain and Diorama sites working on their own (Carlo so far has offered help on the one) because,

I want to get to work on PSAR.ca which will be a good thing.

Should clocks move forward so kids can play longer? (Kamloops Daily News, 10 Nov 2011, PageA1)

A cause my wife is taking up: Do away with daylight savings time.

Should clocks move forward so kids can play longer?

Kamloops Daily News

TORONTO — Now that clocks have been set back an hour in most parts of Canada and it’s dark before dinnertime, a new British study on kids’ physical activity might strike a chord with parents here. A team led by Anna Goodman at the London School of…read more…

Kamloops Town Hall Forums

Wasted the better part of the evening following along with the Twits in #ykatownhall. Okay, it wasn’t quite wasted but I sure didn’t get any work done.

What a friggin’ hoot!

I wish more individuals would get involved; and not just to rant. Everyone knows that it is much easier to be negative and point out faults than it is to work on the solutions (or even to sit back and figure out what the problem is.)

Anyway, …I’d write more but, most of you have figured out I was talking something about politics

I’m having a “by donation get” online special

Do you have a have a business or maybe a group or association you want to get on line?
Or maybe you just want a personal website like mine SteveDelaney.ca here?

I’m having a “by donation” special to help you get your website up, show you how to make changes, teach you some you should do this and some you really shouldn’t do thats.

Now this was going to be for locals only but, …until I’m busy.

I’ll open it up to as long as you live in Canada, you’re old enough, and have some basic computer knowledge. (And are willing to send me a few bucks.)

SMALL PRINT: Yes of course the donation will influence the amount of help.  (But by the end of it you should have a nice, usable website that you won’t be embarrassed to promote.)

Grand opening of the Sauna & Steam rooms in Westsyde

Well, wholly crap I survived the speech. Funny how three minutes of yaking can cause so much stress in an individual. In the end nobody really cared, bring on the cake and when are you going to draw for the prizes.

Actually it was a good time and people seemed to have fun. Heck some even recognized me from my videos on YouTube (and they didn’t recoil – too cool.)

I’ll try and get a pic of me cutting the ribbon with the Mayor up (proof and all) Looking forward to using the steam room now.
